As India hosts a major artificial intelligence summit, policymakers, industry leaders and public health experts are turning attention to the transformative potential of AI in healthcare, and the jobs and global partnerships that could emerge from it.
In discussions leading up to the summit, experts underscored that AI-driven healthcare innovation is not limited to diagnostics and hospital automation. It extends to drug discovery, predictive disease modelling, telemedicine platforms and public health surveillance systems. With India positioning itself as a technology and services hub, the healthcare sector is being viewed as a critical arena for scaling AI applications responsibly.
Speakers stressed that the growth of AI in healthcare could generate high-skilled employment across data science, biomedical engineering, health informatics and digital infrastructure management. At the same time, they cautioned that regulatory clarity, ethical standards and data protection frameworks must evolve in tandem with technological deployment.
Global cooperation was another recurring theme. Participants emphasised cross-border research collaboration, knowledge exchange and investment flows as essential to accelerating innovation while ensuring equitable access.
As the summit unfolds, the convergence of health policy and artificial intelligence is emerging as central to India’s broader development narrative.
