New Delhi | The All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi has climbed to sixth place in the Brand Finance Global Top 250 Hospitals 2026 list, emerging as the top-ranked hospital in South Asia and one of the world’s most highly regarded medical institutions.
The annual ranking, released by Brand Finance on February 5 at the London Stock Exchange, evaluates hospitals around the world on parameters that include quality of care, research output, clinical outcomes and overall reputation. AIIMS Delhi’s position ahead of several established institutions from Europe and North America underscores its growing stature on the global healthcare stage.
According to the latest ranking report, AIIMS’s performance reflects sustained excellence in delivering complex medical treatment and advancing clinical research, even as a publicly funded institution serving a large and diverse patient population. Its Brand Strength Index score placed it in close competition with long-standing leaders in the field.
Institutional leaders said the achievement reinforces India’s capacity to provide world-class healthcare services and train medical professionals to global standards. AIIMS has repeatedly dominated national lists such as the National Institutional Ranking Framework for medical institutions, and the latest global recognition adds a new landmark to its growing portfolio of achievements.
While the ranking report places a narrow gap between AIIMS and the top five hospitals worldwide, its rise highlights a shifting landscape in global healthcare, with publicly funded centres of excellence gaining prominence alongside traditional global names.
