Concerns over the functioning of Rajasthan’s public healthcare system have resurfaced, with allegations pointing to gaps in funding, service delivery and access to essential treatment.
Critics have flagged delays in payments under government health schemes, saying outstanding dues are placing strain on hospitals and affecting their ability to provide uninterrupted services. There are also reports of patients facing difficulties in accessing diagnostics and cashless treatment, particularly in empanelled private facilities.
Officials, however, maintain that corrective steps are underway and that efforts are being made to streamline fund flow and address operational bottlenecks. The state government has also reiterated its commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring wider coverage.
Public health experts note that such challenges are not uncommon in large scale insurance backed systems, where coordination between government agencies and private providers is critical. They add that timely reimbursements and transparent processes are essential to maintain trust in the system.
The episode underscores the continuing pressures on state healthcare networks, even as demand for services grows and expectations from publicly funded schemes increase.
