Private hospitals in Rajasthan have been granted additional time to comply with the requirements of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, as authorities acknowledge implementation challenges on the ground.
The revised deadline, now set for April 30, is expected to give healthcare providers more room to integrate digital systems linked to ABHA, the unique health account identifier aimed at streamlining patient records. Officials say the extension follows representations from hospitals citing delays in software deployment and staff training.
The digital mission seeks to create an interoperable health ecosystem where patient data can be accessed securely across facilities, reducing duplication and improving continuity of care. Hospitals are expected to link their systems to national registries and ensure real time data exchange.
While the policy direction remains unchanged, the extension points to the operational hurdles in transitioning from paper based records to a standardised digital framework. Smaller facilities, in particular, have flagged resource constraints and technical gaps.
Health authorities maintain that wider adoption of the digital architecture is essential for improving efficiency and transparency in service delivery. The coming months are likely to test the system’s readiness as compliance timelines draw closer.
