The Delhi government has announced plans to expand services at its network of Mohalla Clinics, with the aim of strengthening access to primary healthcare across the national capital. The move is part of a broader effort to improve early diagnosis and reduce the burden on major government hospitals.
Officials said several clinics will begin offering additional diagnostic tests and consultation services. The expansion is expected to help residents access basic healthcare closer to their homes, particularly in densely populated areas where public hospitals often face heavy patient loads.
The Mohalla Clinic model, which provides free consultation, medicines and basic tests, was introduced to make primary healthcare more accessible. According to officials, the government is also working to upgrade infrastructure at existing clinics and improve the supply of medicines and testing facilities.
Health authorities said strengthening the primary care network is essential to ensure that minor ailments are treated at the community level, allowing large hospitals to focus on specialised treatment and emergency cases. The expansion is expected to benefit thousands of patients who rely on the clinics for routine healthcare services.
