The Delhi government is preparing to introduce specialised medical training programmes at two of its public hospitals in an effort to strengthen the city’s healthcare workforce and expand advanced clinical education within the government system.
Officials said the proposed courses are expected to focus on fields such as gynaecological oncology and family medicine. The move is aimed at addressing the shortage of trained specialists in key areas of patient care.
The training programmes will be conducted in collaboration with senior doctors and teaching departments at the hospitals. Authorities believe that expanding postgraduate and specialised training in government facilities can help build a stronger pipeline of doctors for public healthcare institutions.
Health officials said the initiative will also allow young medical professionals to gain exposure to complex cases and modern treatment practices while working within large public hospitals that handle a high patient load.
The Delhi government has been taking steps in recent years to expand medical education capacity through new courses, infrastructure upgrades and partnerships with academic institutions. The proposed programmes are part of a broader effort to improve access to specialised healthcare services in the capital.
