Mysuru: Global science and technology company Merck has entered into a collaboration with JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research in Mysuru to strengthen training and skill development in the healthcare and life sciences sectors.
Under the partnership, Merck will work with the university to support academic programmes, research activities and specialised training initiatives aimed at preparing students for careers in healthcare, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sciences.
Officials said the collaboration is expected to focus on improving laboratory training, exposure to modern research techniques and industry relevant skills. The initiative also aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical requirements of the healthcare and life sciences industries.
Representatives from both institutions said the partnership reflects the growing need for industry academia cooperation as the healthcare and biotechnology sectors continue to expand in India. Strengthening research capacity and developing skilled professionals remain key priorities for the sector.
JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, a deemed to be university based in Mysuru, runs several programmes in medical sciences, pharmacy and biotechnology. The collaboration with Merck is expected to provide students and researchers with access to industry expertise and opportunities for collaborative research.
