Hospitals in Prayagraj are set to introduce an AI supported intensive care model aimed at improving access to specialist treatment across the region.
The initiative will operate through a hub and spoke system linking government hospitals with super speciality medical centres. Through this network, doctors in district and smaller hospitals will be able to consult specialists remotely while monitoring patients in intensive care units.
Officials said the system will enable real time tracking of patients’ vital parameters and allow experts in fields such as cardiology, neurology, nephrology and gastroenterology to guide treatment from central hubs. The model is expected to strengthen critical care services in hospitals that currently face shortages of specialised medical staff.
Authorities believe the project could significantly improve emergency and critical care outcomes for patients across the district and nearby areas. Health officials estimate that nearly 1.4 crore people in the region could benefit from improved access to advanced medical consultation through the programme.
The administration said infrastructure upgrades and staff training will continue over the coming months as the system is gradually expanded across hospitals in the region.
