Hundreds of residents gathered in Connaught Place on Sunday to take part in a cycling event organised under the Fit India Movement, highlighting the role of physical activity in improving public health.
The event drew participants from different age groups who cycled through designated routes in central Delhi as part of a campaign encouraging healthier lifestyles. Officials said such community activities aim to create awareness about the importance of regular exercise in preventing lifestyle related diseases.
Public health experts have repeatedly emphasised that increasing physical activity can help reduce the risk of conditions such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Campaigns like Fit India are designed to encourage citizens to adopt simple habits such as walking, cycling and outdoor exercise.
Organisers said the cycling event was also intended to build public participation in national fitness campaigns and promote preventive healthcare practices. Similar initiatives are expected to be organised in other cities to expand awareness around fitness and overall well being.
