Hydration, outdoor timing and warning signs remain under focus
Heat related health concerns remained in focus in Delhi as doctors and healthcare professionals advised residents to take precautions amid continuing high temperatures and summer weather conditions.
Medical experts said prolonged heat exposure can increase risks of dehydration, exhaustion, dizziness and heatstroke, particularly among senior citizens, children, outdoor workers and people with existing medical conditions.
Doctors advised residents to increase water intake, avoid direct afternoon exposure and wear light breathable clothing during peak heat hours. Healthcare professionals also recommended limiting strenuous outdoor activity between late morning and early evening when temperatures remain higher.
Hospitals and healthcare professionals in the capital also highlighted the importance of recognising early symptoms such as headache, nausea, unusual fatigue, dry mouth and confusion, which can signal heat related stress.
Some doctors advised people with diabetes, blood pressure conditions and heart related illnesses to remain cautious during periods of sustained heat and maintain medication schedules alongside hydration.
Doctors Stress Early Prevention During Summer Conditions
Healthcare professionals said small preventive measures can play an important role during heatwave periods.
Experts recommended:
- Drink water regularly even without feeling thirsty
- Avoid prolonged sunlight exposure during peak afternoon hours
- Choose lighter meals and avoid excessive caffeine or alcohol intake
- Seek medical attention if symptoms of heat exhaustion worsen
With high temperatures continuing in parts of north India, heat related health awareness is expected to remain an important public health discussion.
