The Telangana Government has announced the expansion of its Arogya Mahila programme to strengthen healthcare services for women across the state. The initiative aims to improve access to preventive healthcare by offering comprehensive screening, early diagnosis and treatment for a range of women’s health conditions through government healthcare facilities. The programme focuses on promoting timely medical intervention and improving overall health outcomes for women.
Under the expanded programme, women will have access to health screenings for anaemia, diabetes, hypertension, breast and cervical cancer, thyroid disorders and other common health conditions. The initiative also includes reproductive and maternal healthcare services, nutritional counselling and referral support for patients requiring specialised treatment. Regular screening is expected to help detect diseases at an early stage, improving treatment outcomes.
Public health experts emphasise that preventive healthcare plays a crucial role in reducing the burden of chronic diseases among women. Routine health check-ups, awareness campaigns and early diagnosis can significantly improve quality of life while reducing complications associated with untreated medical conditions.
Healthcare professionals also highlighted the importance of strengthening primary healthcare facilities to make specialised women’s healthcare more accessible, particularly in rural and underserved communities. Expanding screening programmes can improve awareness, encourage timely consultations and reduce delays in diagnosis.
The initiative aligns with the government’s broader objective of improving public healthcare through preventive medicine, digital health services and strengthened primary care infrastructure. Experts believe continued investment in women’s health programmes will contribute to healthier families and better long-term public health outcomes.
