Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh will soon be able to access treatment at additional cantonment hospitals across the state, a move aimed at expanding healthcare options for economically vulnerable patients.
Officials said around 12 cantonment hospitals are expected to be brought under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, allowing eligible beneficiaries to receive cashless treatment at these facilities. The decision is intended to ease pressure on existing empanelled hospitals and improve access to specialised medical care.
The expansion is also expected to benefit patients living in areas where government hospitals face high patient load. By including cantonment hospitals in the network, authorities hope to increase the availability of beds and medical services for people covered under the scheme.
State health officials said the government is working on the operational framework to ensure smooth implementation. Beneficiaries will be able to use their Ayushman Bharat cards to receive treatment for approved procedures at the newly included hospitals.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen healthcare access for low income families and ensure that financial constraints do not prevent patients from receiving essential treatment. Authorities believe the move will improve service delivery under the flagship health insurance programme.
